Mark and Maconie, 1pm 6music
Mark and Stuart in the afternoon: an All-You-Can-Hear running audio buffet of delights from 1 til 4pm. But WHO KNOWS who will drop by the studio today? Maybe they'll be joined by the Out of Control Town Crier, Colin in the Corridor or little-known folk-rock group The Wenlocks.
Their guest today is Elbow frontman and songwriter Guy Garvey. The Bury-originated cheermonger and raconteur extraordinaire is here to talk about the new Elbow album, Little Fictions.
Howdy partners! Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie, the Lone Ranger and Tonto of the 6Music airwaves. Saddling up theirs trusty record-playing steeds to gallop across the prairies with a wagonload of top tunes for your delight.
Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie: wrestling all afternoon for your delight on the fluffy audio hearth rug. One might call the show a daily 'nepenthe' (ni-pen-thee): a magical potion that helps you forget all your troubles. Or maybe you'd say after listening to Mark and Stuart chat for five minuntes that you were 'blutterbunged': a useful old dialect word for being 'overcome by surprise and utterly confounded'. Who better to tell us more excellent words like this than lexicologist and etymologist, Susie Dent.
Mark Radcliffe & Stuart Maconie: with all your post-festival round-up needs! With musical highlights, and Edwyn Collins in conversation with Stuart Maconie, recorded live at the 6Music Festival.
Folk Show, 7pm Radio 2
Multi-instrumentalist Tim Edey performs live in the Salford studio.
Tim, rated by many as one of the world's best guitarists and melodeon players, was named Musician of the Year at the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, where he also received the Best Duo prize for his work with Kiwi harmonica player Brendan Power. His new album, How Do You Know?, showcases his previously unheard talent for singing and songwriting.
