Well-known as being the author of the only authorised biography of The Beatles, he's also ghost-worked on the autobiographies of footballers Wayne Rooney, Paul Gascoigne and Dwight Yorke, and also writes a football column for the New Statesman.

He wrote the theme tunes for Graham Linehan sitcoms Father Ted and The IT Crowd, as well as 6Music favourites, The National Express and Something for the Weekend.
