Of course the Daily Mail is a grubby rag (as most of them are) but it will sell Stuart a lot more books, and if you are freelance that is the name of game I'm afraid. Stuart's politics don't come into it I think.

If Mark does the same will the same criticism still stand I wonder?.

Anyhow heres Stuart's Book Signing Diary (at Waterstones anyway)http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/displayDetailEvent.do?searchTy pe=1&author=Stuart|Maconie

Another extract here:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1158696/Polish-waitresses-pakora s-corner-shop-yummy-mummies-black-jeeps-My-Camberwick-Green-changed.html

And no one can argue with the last sentence (and I'd like to see them try!) "But the England that made Vaughan Williams and Shakespeare is dearer to me than the England that made Bernard Manning and Liam Gallagher."

I couldn't agree more!

Seriously, good to see Mark and Stuart well represented in the Awards.

It would be good to see the Freak Zone improve on it's Silver of 2007.

No Marc though, which is a shame.
