It's 5 April, and naturally our thoughts turn to sitting up late, filling in forms when we should be asleep - oooops, we are

Ghosts by Siobhan Donaghy. Her second album I think. It's great for the most part, but in places it gets suspiciously close to imitating Kate Bush on one track and Massive Attack (I think) on another.

Oh that's her out of Sugababes isn't it?

I liked that single she did called (ironically) "Overrrated" but never heard anything else solo by her.

Sounds just like 'er! Redhead that left mid way though a tour or something like that.

Overrated was the only thing I heard from her first solo album, back in the mists of time that was 2003. One of those that received critical acclaim but did bugger all in the chards apparently.

EDIT: A bit more listening to Ghosts and I can find one genuine irksome thing about it. Well, about a lot of pop music really. The practice of layering the singer's voice multiple times to give it a bit more erm, something, gets on my wick at times. It doesn't sound quite right to me.

Elvis Costello -  Spike.

It's a fine body of work from Mr McMannus.

I have mostly been listening to Kate Bushes Aerial in the car as well.

Been listening to Loadmatic by my new favourite band, Ivan Campo.  Oh it's good.  Shades of Kings of Convenience, and they have loads of really cool instruments like shakers and maracas and bells and stuff.  Oh yesh...

<edit>  Oh, and a little mini kiddy keyboard thing with the notes written on the keys.  Grin
