Five Years

I can't believe almost 5 years have passed since the lads parted ways.

So to cheer everyone up, I'll host a contest.

Please suggest songs to be restored to vinyl quality. I'll choose the best 5 candidates based on diversity of vintage, and seriousness of the lyrics.

You have 7 days to get your suggestions in, and then I'll choose and begin the restoration process.

"I asked them for suggestions on Monday, waited for replies on Tuesday, laughed at song titles on Wednesday, and on Thursday and..." ugh, what am I singing?

The finished articles will be linked to from this thread.

sorry it's late but what about Kylie, I'm spinning around?
and since the weather has been great here of late, how about something summery? Jazzy jeff and the fresh prince-Boom shake the room/summer time, KC and the sunshine band, walkin on sunshine.

Some nice suggestions there.

I have made my choices:
Benny Hill
Kylie Minogue
Kiss
Salt N Pepa
Billy Paul

I heard Nirvana were going to re-release all their studio albums on vinyl. Can anybody suggest one of their songs which might be best suited to restoration?

I have completed 1 of them so far and the rest are nearly finished.

I will also be restoring a certain Kula Shaker walbum later this year. It's a bit rare, and I'm having difficulty getting my hands on it.

In the meantime, if you want a computer to automatically restore CDs and MP3s to LP quality, I reccomend downloading Winamp and the Izotope Vinyl plugin for Winamp. If you want to know how to use these I'll create a topic for that.

I'm afraid they don't convert songs, they just play them back. Still good value for money though.

Heart Shaped Box would be good.  It's a shame Smells like teen spirit doesn't actually contain those words or that could have been a belter!
All time favourite one for me is Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel

I just need to finish cleaning Kylie with a wire wool brush using circular motions, but I'll certainly add Heart Shaped Box to the list.

Push It was the most difficult to restore. It didn't have much "former glory" to be restored to, and the record had been stored in five seperate peices for safe keeping.

There was plenty of material in Ernie to perform a full restoration. I did the best I could with the rest, and I'm pleased with the results.

My CD to V machine needs a few weeks to cool down now though.
